[quote="gruffles"}It's a flaming coals offset (which I ended up getting for a pretty good price). It seems to be a remodelling of the Hark Texas Pro. I would've loved to have purchased a Yoder, but just couldn't justify the cost (especially since I was just starting out).

Looking forward to giving them another crack ASAP![/quote]

Awesome, same as mine then. Also bought mine as a "starter pit" but im really impressed so far and at this point see no reason to pay any more.

I was looking at those flaming coals pits at meatstock. Seem well built for the price. Do you have any criticism of them at all?

Only minor complaint I had was with the instructions which after step 10 got a little jumbled and out of alignment with the illustrations but it wasn't a big deal as its a very straightforward build. I liked the FC over the Hark Pro as I actually prefer having the ash drawer at the bottom of the pit as its easy to empty (and you will need to clean it out a few times) during long cooks. I also like how you can crack the drawer open to allow air to the fire from the bottom. The Hark also has some warmer shelfs in the cooking chamber that the FC does not have but when I checked out the Hark there's very little space up top so thought they would just get in the way anyway.

Good job mate. Fire control is going to be your nemesis for while :) What rub did you use?
